Frequently Asked Questions
Because it is fenced, am I guaranteed a trophy animal?
We really appreciate your interest in our hunts! I have put together the below information to try to answer as many of the frequently asked questions as possible. Please take moment and read the following information.
First of all, even though the ranch is under a game-proof fence, (high fenced) we do NOT offer canned hunts or what is being referred to these days as “guaranteed opportunity hunts”. In fact, my goal when I built this place was to break some of the preconceived notions that people seem to have about high-fenced hunts. I wanted to create a very challenging real-life bow hunting experience; which means all of the usual variables apply. Such as weather, moon phase, food supply, and last but certainly not least the hunters’ own skills, hunting ability, and workmanship. I wanted to not only share the thrill of hunting wild free-range animals under fair chase conditions but also to create a very fun and enjoyable deer camp experience. I believe we have successfully created that environment here. We do allow crossbows. We do not allow rifle hunting period. Our ranch is close to 400 acres of solid brush and creek bottom land. You do need a Texas Special hunt license (nonresident if you are coming from out of state).
How do I set up a hunt?
What types of weapons are allowed?
We allow crossbows. We do not allow rifle hunting – period. Large bore air guns/air bows can be used FOR HOGS ONLY.
Do I need a Texas Hunting License?
You do need a Texas Special hunt license (non-resident) if you are coming from out of state.
What are your prices / packages?
General hunting price is $1950.00 per hunter plus tips for the help and $50.00 per animal for cape and quartering. This includes up to 72 hours at the ranch which breaks down to 3 days and 3 nights of meals and lodging at $650.00 per day. Typically, our hunters come in at noon on the 1st day and depart at noon on the 4th day. The $1950 ($650 daily rate) covers your hunting, meals, lodging, a doe or ewe, plus up to 4 hogs. We prefer groups of 3-6 hunters, but need at least 2 hunters to book a hunt. We do not mix groups, so your group will have the run of the entire ranch and facilities during your hunt. While we can allow a hunter to hunt on their own, they will be expected to pay at the starting rate of $3900 to cover the secondary hunting slot.
For the rest of the 2022 season, we will not be charging a trophy fee for Axis bucks unless the hunter decides to take an adolescent buck or a velvet buck that isn’t fully developed. We have a 27-inch minimum and the buck must be fully developed if still in velvet. The trophy fee for a buck outside of those parameters is $1500.00. An additional Axis Buck is $3500. Each hunter will have an opportunity to hunt an Axis buck plus up to two hogs and one doe.
Aoudad Ram: $1500 Trophy fee if a Ram is harvested. Additional Aoudad Ram is $3500
Fallow Buck: $3500. Additional Fallow buck $5500
Can we hunt as a group? Can I hunt alone?
We prefer groups of 3 to 6 hunters but need at least a group of two hunters to book this hunt or one hunter that doesn’t mind covering two spots at the $1950.00. To be clear, one person may hunt alone but at $3900.00.
Will our group have to share the space with other groups?
We do not mix groups. Therefore, your group will have run of the whole ranch and facilities during your hunt.
Do you offer Aoudad ram hunts?
Yes- It is the same package as an Axis buck hunt, but carries a $1500.00 trophy fee if a Ram is harvested.
Will someone be at the ranch to assist us?
There will be at least one guide in camp available to assist with your stand selection, game recovery, and more.
Do you offer military discounts?
At these already very low prices, it’s very difficult for us to offer any sort of additional discount. However for military, law enforcement, first responders, or teachers we can offer a 5% discount on your hunt.
Where are you located?
We are located in New Berlin, Texas which is about an hour SE of San Antonio. We look forward to seeing you in camp!
What type of environment can I expect at the ranch?
Our ranch is close to 400 acres of solid brush and creek bottomland.
